Bath Time

It is now widely accepted that many chemicals can enter the bloodstream through the skin and is a routine method of administering medication such as nicotine and the female hormone through skin patches. Studies have shown that up to 60% of a substance will be absorbed by the body when applied to the skin. A newborn and young child’s skin is very delicate and care should be taken when choosing toiletry products for the bath, the skin and hair. A child’s irritated skin or hair can quite possibly be due to toiletries being too harsh for their skin to cope with.

You will usually find that natural toiletries use less water in their products and so the bottles will often last a lot longer than non natural products due to the higher concentration. We have the basics such as baby baths, top and tail bowls and even a clever bath support pillow to give you greater confidence whilst bathing your newborn slippery baby and also will keep bath water out of baby’s ears.

The aptly named Clevamama towel is in our view a must for all parents and grandparents to use when bathing a small baby. Not only is it large enough for a 2year old and so be very economical but no more will you have to grip one end of the towel under your chin whilst worrying that your slippery wet newborn baby will fall when lifting them from the bath. The Clevamama towel fastens one end around the adults neck and the opposite end has a hood which pops over your baby’s head! Now you can easily lift your baby up and against your chest and also remain dry yourself!
