Feeding Time

We are always adding to this section of Honeybees as we discover new interesting products during our travels!

By getting habits correct for your developing child at this stage will set them correctly for later in life. I’ve tried to include not only products like the Stokke Tripp Trap chair that I bought for my own children when they weaned but also clever little devices that will simply make your life as the parent easier like the inflatable Fruity Faces, a fun way to keep fruit, particularly bananas protected from bumps in packed lunches!

I didn’t need to look at high chairs when I weaned my children as I had used the Stokke Tripp Trapp chair during my time working in a special school and appreciated its benefits for positioning and stability. The sturdy design of the chair allowed my children to grow in size but adjusted with each stage to keep their posture correct for good eating and social skills. By making my children sit at a higher level they joined us at the table we were able to eat as a family right from the start. As they grew we simply lowered the foot and seat platform and so kept them at the correct height at the table. At 8 years old my oldest child can now sit comfortably on a normal dining chair and so his Tripp Trapp chair has become his desk chair in his bedroom. When we have friends visiting we simply bring his chair downstairs for an extra adult chair - what other highchair can last a child that long!

Obviously at Honeybees we think that breast feeding is the best that you can offer your baby but we also accept that this is not always the best option for Mum. We know that a baby needs happy parents to be a happy baby and that parenting is all about choices. Therefore whilst we actively encourage breast feeding by stocking the best range of breast pumps to buy or to hire - Meleda as well as award winning reusable Lilypadz breast pads, Natracare organic disposable breast pads, Emma Jane nursing bras and comfortable feeding chairs with complimentary cold drinks we would never make a bottle feeding family feel unwelcome! We are more than happy to warm a bottle up for your baby to have a feed in the shop and we also stock the popular Dr Brown anti-colic bottles and Avent sterilisers. If we are quiet in the shop then its possible that one of us will bottle feed your baby - obviously so that you can have a quiet browse around the shop and not so that we can dream about when our children were little and have a sneaky cuddle......

For the older child we have washable bibs and the very useful Snack Trap cup which stops spillages from finger feeding toddlers and a handy little seat harness for when you eat out.
